Proud Members of Pop Warner Little Scholars:
We are proud to be a part of Pop Warner Little Scholars and members of the Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner, the premiere National Youth Organization that not only focuses on physical fitness through football and cheerleading but also rewards academic performance and community involvement. We understand the significant impact we have on our athletes' development both on and off the field, so we ensure our staff models behavior that builds up all the children in our program.
Summer Conditioning:
- Conditioning Camp: Starting in early summer, we offer voluntary conditioning practice 2 days per week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30PM tp 8:00PM to help cheerleaders get ready for the upcoming season. This is highly recommended for all participants.
Team Formation and Age Range:
- Teams are generally formed by late July.
- Age Range: Cheerleaders typically range from 5 to 15 years old (born between August 1, 2009, and July 31, 2020).
Cheerleading Season Overview:
- Game Days: Cheerleaders will support the football teams on the sidelines, typically Saturdays from mid-August to October/November. Football games start early in the morning and continue every 2 hours into the early evening.
- Cheerleaders usually cheer for 1 football team depending on their age group, as determined by the Cheer Director.
- Practice Schedule:
- Practice times are set by your child's coach, but generally, we practice 3 days per week in the early evening, usually from 6:30 - 8:00 PM (some teams may practice until 8:30PM).
- Typical practice days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting August 1st.
- Competitions:
- Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner Cheer Competition: This takes place in October.
- Regional Cheer Competition: Held during Thanksgiving weekend in Orlando.
- National Cheer Competition: For qualifying teams, this event takes place in early December in Orlando.
- These competitions are a fantastic opportunity for cheerleaders to showcase their skills, and we are proud to have had teams qualify and win at both the Regionals and Nationals. Please note that additional expenses for competitions are expected.
